Erik is the clinic director in our Portland-Hollywood location. He is a Board-Certified Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy (SCS) and a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Dr. Meira currently serves on the Executive Committee as the Representative at Large for the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy (AASPT) and is the Team Physical Therapist for the University of Portland Pilots. His research focus currently has him collaborating with the Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL) and consulting with many NCAA and professional sports organizations across the country. He has over 20 years of experience working with patients and athletes of all levels trying to return to an active lifestyle.
Educated at the University of Florida, Erik worked as an intern with their Gator Football Team before formally beginning his career at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. His long history of involvement with the AASPT includes founding their Hip Special Interest Group and serving for six years as their programming chair for the American Physical Therapy Association’s Combined Section Meeting, an annual conference with over 10,000 attendees. He is an internationally recognized educator on topics related to rehabilitation of the hip, knee, and shoulder with a strong focus on return to sport planning.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and kid, backpacking, snowboarding, swimming, and traveling.
